We are currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Programme Tutor specialising in Plumbing and Gas to join our Construction & Skilled Trades team.

The Role

As a Programme Tutor for Plumbing and Gas, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional education and training to our students. Your expertise will help develop the next generation of skilled tradespeople, ensuring they are equipped with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to excel in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective lessons in Plumbing and Gas to a diverse student cohort.
  • Assess and monitor student progress through coursework, practical assessments, and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
  • Develop and update curriculum content to reflect current industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Support students in achieving their qualifications, including relevant City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent certifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health and safety regulations, especially concerning gas safety and plumbing standards.
  • Collaborate with employers and industry partners to provide work experience opportunities and ensure course relevance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the faculty and participate in department meetings and training.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and promote a positive learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant trade qualification in Plumbing and Gas (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with recognised gas qualifications such as ACS or CCN1.
  • Previous experience delivering training or tutoring in a further education or apprenticeship setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of current plumbing and gas industry regulations, standards, and health & safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Ability to plan lessons effectively and assess learner progress in line with awarding body requirements.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning within the construction and skilled trades sector.
